From Expertise to Experience: A Parent & Professional’s Journey in Autism Support.

Navigating autism can feel overwhelming—for both children and parents. As both a professional and an autism parent, I’ve lived through the challenges, the lessons, and the unexpected moments of clarity. This isn’t just my story—it’s an invitation to walk this journey together, with understanding and support.

When my son was diagnosed with autism and ADHD in his early schooling years, my perspective shifted completely. Despite years of professional experience, I wasn’t prepared for the emotional weight of it all. The strategies I knew from clinical settings didn’t always work at home, and I quickly realised that effective support must be practical, adaptable, and realistic for everyday life. I reflected back on some of the strategies I had previously recommended parents and cringed!

I remember one morning struggling to transition my son from his iPad to getting ready for school. What worked so well in therapy sessions fell apart in real life; I was frustrated he was frustrated, and it simply didn't work. That moment made me realise something important; parenting is hard, and parents need just as much support as their children.

So many parents ask themselves, Am I doing enough? The weight of that question can be exhausting. I’ve been there—through the sleepless nights, the self-doubt, and the endless trial and error. I knew there had to be a better way, one that uplifted my family instead of leaving me feeling like I was constantly falling short.

That’s why I started my practice—to help parents feel empowered, not overwhelmed.

My work focuses on practical, strength-based strategies that help families build connection, confidence, and a sense of autonomy. Through workshops, coaching, and support groups, I offer guidance that is not only evidence-based but also deeply personal.

A key part of my approach is neuro-affirming support—celebrating and valuing neurological differences rather than trying to fit children into traditional molds. I help parents see their child’s strengths and unique perspectives, fostering an environment where their child wants to engage—not because they have to, but because they feel safe, understood, and motivated.

Parenting a neurodivergent child isn’t about “fixing” behaviours; it’s about collaboration, connection, and learning together.

My goal is to help parents shift from feeling like they’re constantly managing challenges to feeling confident in their ability to support their child in a way that truly works for their family.

If you're looking for guidance, advocacy, or just someone who truly gets it, let’s connect. You don’t have to navigate this alone—together, we can build a future filled with understanding, growth, and endless possibilities.
